About the Museum
Founder of The Enduring Word Museum
Rusty Maisel
Dr. Maisel (1944-2022) founded The Enduring Word Museum in 1994 to teach Christians the history of their Bible and to teach the history of written communication. He had been recognized as an authority on the history of manuscript traditions and early printing. His decades of practical research had led him to design and build several full-size, working replicas of the Gutenberg Printing Press.
Our Purpose
John L. Sliffe
John Sliffe joined Rusty in 2011, both assisting Rusty in the completion of printing presses for various museums as well as traveling with the exhibit. After seeing the impact of the ministry on people’s lives, John decided to continue his education and become a fulltime partner in the exhibit. John has finished his Masters in Theology and Church History at Oral Roberts University and currently working on his Doctorate at the University of South Africa.
What we do
Affirming the Truth of the Bible through History
We teach history of how the Bible we have today came into existence, the history of written communication as well as lectures on specific historical characters such as Johan Gutenberg, John Wycliff, William Tyndale, Martin Luther, Miles Coverdale, King James, and others along with their combined efforts to publish the Bible in English.
- We bring the exhibit to churches, schools (public, private, and home), nursing homes, senior center, civic groups, public libraries, community centers…
- Teach the history of the Bible, the Reformation as well as the history of written communication.
- Lectures can be tailored to the specific: topics/ time periods/ characters etc. and to needs of the audience to meet the teacher/professors/pastors goals.
